OSO Hotwater (now part of LG Electronics) produces world-class stainless steel water heaters, exported from Hokksund, Norway, to homes around the globe. While most Norwegians have an OSO in their house, brand recognition is low as they have primarily been sold through wholesalers.

With the launch of their first smart water heater and a shifting market, it was time to turn OSO into a conscious choice for consumers. A digital brand they could truly connect with.

I served as the lead designer for a comprehensive brand refresh across for OSO across international markets, introducing a new visual system of vibrant gradients, friendly illustrations, and custom iconography.

A flexible visual system was designed for a new era of consumer communication. By pairing foundational core elements with expressive, inspirational assets, I created a toolkit that allows OSO to speak directly to homeowners with more clarity, warmth, and personality.

A flexible visual system was designed for a new era of consumer communication. By pairing foundational core elements with expressive, inspirational assets, I created a toolkit that allows OSO to speak directly to homeowners with more clarity, warmth, and personality.

The visual identity was built around thermal gradients that have a dual purpose. On one hand, they tell a brand story by mimicking the movement of water; on the other, they act as an intuitive UI component, giving users a clear, visual indicator of their tank’s real-time temperature.

The visual identity was built around thermal gradients that have a dual purpose. On one hand, they tell a brand story by mimicking the movement of water; on the other, they act as an intuitive UI component, giving users a clear, visual indicator of their tank’s real-time temperature.

We also created a more expressive app UI concept, were gradients are used to indicate tank capacity and temperature, as well as hibernation. It turns technical data into a fluid, visual experience that anyone can understand without needing to check a manual.
